Regretted for studying in Australia

Till now,

I been slightly regretted that I chosen to study in Australia.

Perhaps,

some brainwashing occurred within me from my surrounding.

Heard from Ada, my friend who previously studied in UK,

when we were shopping happily,

she told me

'Haiz... I missed my moment when studying in UK.'

I asked her

'Why?'

She said

'Because in UK, their clothes cheaper a lot, can everyday shopping! Now, haiz... everything so expensive, buy one piece also cannot. In Uk, one dress is only 5 pound, in Australia, one dress Aussie dollar $59.90 !'

I said

'I dont know... I never go UK before.'

Two days ago,

just had a great shopping with Chloe.

I said

'Hey, do you feel like Yi Ting everyday buying clothes in UK?'

She said

'Of course la! Shopping at there damn cheap ones! She everyday wearing new clothes ones kay? Yi Ting told me their clothes not more than 10 pounds ones!'

I said

'Eh! Why you told me the same thing with Ada? Ada also told me in UK shopping very cheap ones! She said last time when she studied A-level in UK, shoes and clothes all 5 pounds only! Convert back to Malaysia ringgit only RM20+ only know?? Now we simply get a dress in Australia also need at least $59.90, RM200 ! Sometimes I went Forever New buy clothes lagi expensive, that time new year I bought new year clothes, one blue dress $79.90, I bought the same one with two different colours, one for my mum, two for $160 convert back to malaysia ringgit = RM528 ! Damn expensive!'

When I said that,

Chloe even laughed at me and said

'Hahahaha! Dian ones!'

I said

'Ya la ! Even is expensive, but very beautiful what.... I cant dont buy and walk away!'

She said

'And in UK their branded all very cheap ones.... that time Yi Ting, Michelle and me, 3 of us prepared gift exchange for celebrating 21st years old, Yi Ting bought three Prada purse, its only $RM900 for each purse! Damn cheap leh....'

I said

'Walao! Eh so cheap! I bought this long champ bag in Australia for RM1200... I heard people say if buy in UK, RM500-600 malaysia ringgit can get it already! Plus I bought for Datin one... $100 for very small only! It just like a big pencil case size only! RM330!'

She said

'But yours is full leather will be more expensive....'

I said

'But anyhow if in UK can get cheaper leh.... A lot of branded things came from UK ones... that is why is cheaper there!'

She said

'Anah! And that time Yi Ting told me their foods also cheaper.... like just now our lunch each person $23 aussie dollar,  convert back to Malaysia ringgit already RM75.90! In UK, they order a main course with included a drink only 10 pounds! means RM46 only! At here damn expensive lo... one small plate $19.90 ausie dollar haha!'

I said

'Haha! Crazy ones! Rm75.90 for each meal... in Malaysia can go hotel eat buffet d....'

She said

'Ya la! Shen jing de... in UK really cheaper a lot.... I come Australia study is because my uncle got house and villa here.'

I said

'Ya la ! I think education in UK also cheaper... Datin daughter told me she studied law in UK, one year RM100K only, Siew told me his son coming Australia study pilot... 9 months only RM160K...'

She said

'Luckily they just study around 1 year only... you come here for almost 3 years, dont know your father spend how much... lagi worst hahaha!'

I said

'Ya la! My father calculated before d... roughly RM500K hahaha!'

She said

'Ya la ! Because your 3 years degree you study here mah... mostly people do degree transfer... or your father give you a lot pocket money?'

I said

'No ah... my father just gives me $2000 a month....'

She said

'oh.... 2000 normal la.. wont very less...'

I said

'Siew son leh? How come 9 months only 160K? and datin daughter 1 year even lesser, 100K only...'

She said

'Cha bu duo la... you see ah... let say he one month give his son 2K, 9 months is Aussie 18K = RM80K, maybe his whole course tuition fees is RM80K lo....'

I said

'Oh then same with mine la.... mine tuition fees one year also RM80K, mean aussie around 20K....'

She said

'Ya la! If you go UK study also not so expensive! Plus can shopping some more!'

I said

'Yer!!! Zhao Zi Dao I go UK study! Everything is cheaper.... still can go shopping buy a lot of clothes!'

She said

'But you cant say because of cheaper you want go UK, because you dont know anyone at there, you survive alone, you will homesick ones you know? Last time Michelle also... she went UK study, she went there alone without her friends... she went 2 weeks only then came back d... she said because at there she dont have friends, very suffer.... she homesick, vomit all those... very stress then come back d....'

I said

'Oh... also true! Actually I will choose Australia, and Adelaide this place, because I want to get a quiet place and study. And, coincidence Tee Syi Rui is here, she keep telling me to tell my parents she will take care of me... so got people look after me only parents allow me to come....'

She said

'Ya la! Plus you hyperactive leh hahaha your parents where can let you stay alone oh?'

I said

'Actually, before that I got think of go UK study ones.... because at that time the agent told me Australia only got february intake only... left UK... UK is the only country have october intake... then I told my father I dont want to wait till next year february anymore, I said since left UK then go UK study.... hahaha! Then my father said cannot! He said nobody there, who wants to take care of you? Later you sick all those very troublesome...'

She said

'Hahaha then?'

I said

'Then at that time I really dont want to wait till next year February.... I keep brainwash my father... I told my father said the agent said UK is much cheaper than Australia... because Australia living cost very high... plus their currency up to 3.3 edi.... I said even UK currency is 4.6 but the agent got showed me UK tuition fees, 6 pounds for the whole course only! Means whole course for RM20+K only !But for Australia, one year 20K aussie! Means one year 80K ! not whole course you know?'

She said

'Hahaha pandai cakap! Then what your father said?'

I said

'Then my father said BU KER YI ! hahaha! He said no choice... ask me to wait till next year because he said I can't go alone at UK.... he said because I dont know take care myself haha!'

She said

'Haha! If I am your father I also worry lo... You so hyperactive, plus nobody control you there, you will sot diao ones! Hahaha!'

 I said

'Haha my father never talk till so far... he just say I dont know protect myself, go so far alone will get people bully.... he said I come Australia, at least got close friend take care of me...'

She said

'Anah! You cant say because of cheap you want to go there ones... Michelle last time also... she homesick leh... two weeks only she went back Malaysia d....'

Today,

Ada came our apartment for having dinner together with us.

When Cornelia and Carol were cooking in the kitchen,

Ada and me were chit-chat about the oncoming assignments on the dinning table.

She suddenly said

'Haiz.... study here very difficult ah... feel like going back to Hong Kong.... too stress!'

I said

'Why?'

She said

'Dont know... my mum ask me dont be too stress, she said if too stress, ask me go back Hong Kong study...'

I said

'I think you no problem la... you so smart in study, last time your A-level not study in UK?'

She said

'UK better than here ah!!! Here is too difficult!!! In UK, I got A, at here Credit only! Too stress! I waste a lot of my time focusing on my assignments, but when the results come out, that bastard Sociology lecturer gave me Credit only!'

I said

'Har! But UK not very difficult ones meh?'

She said

'Uk is difficult, here lagi difficult ! Dont know how to describe!'

I said

'What is the difference between UK level and Australia level?'

She said

'Last time when I studied in UK, one year is only 4 subjects, here 4 subjects per semester is killing me!'

I said

'Har! One year is only 4 subjects? Then must be very free!'

She said

'Dui ah! That's why I said UK is easier to study.... I am guo lai ren... I know the differences! Trust me! Uk is easier to study!'

I said

'Oh.... I thought UK very hard to study ones....'

She said

'In Uk, their assignments are very easy, but examination is difficult. It just like you can very enjoy the whole year, but you have to study at home for the final examination. Plus minus you still can get an A if you study at home. But in Australia, haiz... both assignments and exam also difficult! The sociology assignments, I did it for so long, spend so much of time and energy, but result came out is only 60 marks.... Plus so many assignments non stop oncoming! Ahhhh! I really want to die d! In Uk also never like that!'

I said

'In UK, how is their grading system? Same with Australia or not?'

She said

'Different... in UK, they have a lot of grades...  A B C D and F. In Australia has only three grades - distinction, credit and pass. Below than pass means fail edi ah! So easy to fail ! I want to die already.... cannot ah... I almost go back Hong Kong edi....'

I said

'Har! Uk grading system is ABC ones ah?'

She said

'Dui ah!'

I said

'Then same with Malaysia.... Malaysia also ABCD and F.'

She said

'In Hong Kong also ABC ones....'

I said

'Then I think Malaysia follow UK ones....'

She said

'Dont know la... I think I want go back Hong Kong study....'

I said

'But last time I read from the internet, it written Hong Kong is the educational leading country for mathematics, follow by China, US , Australia. and UK.'

She said

'Ya! Hong Kong and China mathematics is very difficult...'

I said

'Why ah?'

She said

'Dont know... haha maybe Chinese is more clever in mathematics....'

I said

'Why? In malaysia, they also said Chinese has a better mathematics than Malay haha! Peoples always say like that!'

She said

'Really? I just know Amolang their math not good ones because amolang is good in speaking only... I think this is the factor that Hong Kong has the most difficult math in the world.... so I think Asian country math is more difficult than western country....'

I said

'Maybe lo... last time in Malaysia I study engineering there is quite difficult, the question is very complicated.... need to think a lot.... I think maybe at here is more easy...'

She even laughed at me and said

'Hahaha! Engineering not study at where also difficult ones ?'

I said

'Why you said the same thing as my father? I told my father, I said I heard Carol said amolang at here damn stupid... exponential also they dont know how to do... or shifting trigonometric equations only also they dont know... I told my father engineering at here is much easier because amolang is stupid in math... then my father said engineering study at where also not easy ones... he said when he was young, he got study before ones he know.... funny!'

She said

'So you mean your father last time also study engineering ones?'

I said

'No.... he not study engineering ones... he just said he is a student, he study before, he knew engineering is not easy... so he told me no matter at where, engineering still difficult.'

She said

'Dui Ya! Haiz... why make life so difficult?'

I said

'Hahaha! haiz... I study journalism here enough la...'

She said

'You previously graduated from engineering, how come you can transfer into journalism?'

I said

'Can... because my agent said if you have engineering certificate, you want to transfer to any course also very easy... like science can transfer to science and science can transfer to art; vice versa, so means science can transfer to anything. Plus I got both 1119 English certificate from UK cambridge University and Malaysia University English Test certificate...'

She said

'Oh... yeah! I got heard before, in Hong Kong also, if you have A-level engineering certificate, you can transfer to any course.'

I said

'But you leh? When you studied in UK, your A-level graduate from what?'

She said

'I graduated from law for A-level.'

I said

'Oh... then yours can meh? A-level Law can go to degree journalism meh?'

She said

'Can ah... becauses art to art mah...'

I said

'OH yeah yeah yeah!'

She said

'And my agent said law and journalism is interrelated so can transfer.'

I said

'Why you want to change to journalism? Law not good? Or very hard?'

she said

'Not hard, but I dont like the topic I study....'

I said

'Oh... what subjects you took for your law A-level?'

She said

'Errr.... Economics, Business, English and Accounting.'

I said

'Hua! Among 4 subjects, I got three dont like! Hahaha! I dont like economics, business and accounting all those ones. I dont like things which related to money flowing ones... like politic also I dont like....'

She said

'Yea... I also dont like those, I think its very boring haha! That is why I transferred to journalism.'

I said

'Then last time what was your A level result?'

She said

' 2A, 2B.'

I said

'Eh! Not bad what! Still always say want to die! Want go back Hong Kong!'

She said

'That one was in UK, more easy! One year 4 subjects only! Now in Australia, one year 12 subjects, haiz... I think I still better go back Hong Kong la...'

I said

'Hahaha! Again! You dont like that la... persevere a bit....'

She said

'And I notice both UK and Australia, the words and vocabulary Australia used is much difficult, sometimes I cant even understand the essay question! You good lo... English so good... presentation got distinction...'

I said

'Haiyo! My English where got good until where? My English is Malaysian English! We follow awkward British slang!'

She said

'Better than us! Hong Kong follow republic China! Hahaha!'

I said

'My English even worst! Even we follow british slang, I think I british slang also dont have! Malaysia slang only! Haha!'

She said

'Where got? During your presentation, I heard you got Aussie slang! I dont have...'

I said

'Haha! My person is I walk until where follow what kind of people, before I come Australia dont have ones....'

She said

'I remember when we first met in orientation, that time I still dont know you are Chinese, I speak English with you, I felt like your slang sounds like Singapore ones... because I went Singapore for holiday last time, Haha! I felt like you having the same slang with them! The way they talked funny ones! Very fast and weird rhythm! At first I thought you are Singaporean hahaha!'

I said

'Ya la! Malaysia same with Singapore ones... Because last time Singapore under Malaysia. So we have the same speaking slang, just our mandarin slang slightly different only.'

She said

'Haiz... dont know la... study in Australia very difficult ah! I miss UK life....'

I said

'Haiz... I also... zhao zi dao go UK study... can shopping more... plus you say more easy....'

She said

'Ya... UK education system is their assignments are easy, because they are more focus in exam, as long as you study at home for your final exam you can enjoy life most of the time for the whole year, but in Australia, both assignments and exam are difficult. And in UK, 4 subjects per year, in Australia, 4 subjects per semester! So in Australia, have to study 12 subjects per year! Damn big difference! I want to die!!! Dont want to survive anymore! Too many things to study!'

I said

'Actually, I noticed that you are quite similar with one of my high school friend. That time, she sits with me, she also always say she wants to die, but yours is because of study, hers is because of relationship.'

She said

'Haha! Really?'

I said

'Yes. A lot people know she got depression ones... because she since standard 6, she fallen in love with a guy, but the guy doesn't loves her and has girlfriend, then she became depression since form 2, and till she form 4 like that is very serious d... that time we were close friends, I knew her purse inside, all is about the boy pictures... and she everyday wrote diary in a book about the boy. Everything she wrote down in the book and recorded down, and she everyday came to school, her eyes cried till swollen, and I heard from another close friend, her name is Siew Lee, she said before she sleeps, she will look at the boy pictures before she sleep and keep crying. Then when she came to the school, she will told me she very unhappy of her life, she keep saying she wanted to die or say she better die than survive.'

Ada said

'Haha! Really? But mine is I joked only, I not really want to die, I said I want to die is describe the study difficulty only. Haiz... I want to go back the past, go back UK ah!'

I said

'Haha! I think maybe you also got depression as her, my that friend also like that ones.... she writing everywhere I WANT TO GO BACK TO 6M! Then in class, when I sit with her, she always mentioned to me she wish to go back to the past.'

Ada laughed and said

'Haha! Really? Then I think I also got depression bahhh.... haha!'

I said

'Heard the way you talked about UK, it sounds very nice and relax! Good shopping, everything cheaper plus one year 4 subjects to go only!  Actually, before I came Australia, my father and my second sister also got told me Australia very hard to study ones... and when I recalled back my mum got told me one of my cousin, last time she came Australia study for one week only then returned back to Malaysia already, my mum said because she said too difficult already plus dont understand what the lecturer talking. But at that time, I never think a lot, just think of quickly escape from Malaysia only, go where also better than Malaysia. Now I kinda regret I came Australia, I think I should go UK study, because more shopping and everything cheaper. But anyway, everywhere also got its own benefits... In Australia is more peaceful and quiet but tougher education standard, in UK is more hectic and fun but more relaxing in study.
