She didn't lies

by - 11:50 am

LOL!
Darling,
seems like she really didn't tell lies to me,
last time I asked you
'Why lcl always holidays for so long ones?'
You said she bluffed me ones as M'sia don't have such long hols,
but when I asked one of my friend who studied at Brickfields,
she said really got so long holidays because Brickfields follow UK programme.
And indeed,
she said law course is a very carefree course because law require a lot of reading thus lecturer just fundamentally teach for the basic understanding and the rest are generally study by own self ones.
Same here,
now I understand what my friend was mentioning and trying to say.
Our course is basically the same too!

For our journalism course,
lecturer just teach the basic understanding of the course in class - like talking about the theories, histories, facts and cases in class.

Even if you didn't go class also never mind ones,

as long as got study at home and you know what and how the things go then you may passed with flying colors.

Just like me,
every time you will see my FACEBOOK or instagram hung out at beach or the shopping mall.

Loitering around in the city during the day or going for high tea.

Nevertheless burning midnight oil at home;
sometimes reading more than 10 pages of course reading for a subject,
writing case studies, research and assignments in the midnight.

To be frankly,
I began to have Astigmatism and short-sighted after I study Journalism.
Because reading large amount of words from course reading at night and the words are so tiny and packed!

Sometimes,
when I reading the words on the computer screen,
I felt like I am seeing the whole page in blur.
I tried to enlarged my eyes and read carefully;
but still reading the blur.
I told daddy and mommy don't know what's wrong with my eyes,
can't see small things anymore as last time I still could.
Daddy told me maybe its eyesight problem and asked me go check from the optometrist.
After an electronically check and visually check,
the optometrist told me I got both short-sighted and astigmatism.
I told him that I could see everything clear but only when reading words on the computer screen.
He told me because when my Astigmatism and short-sighted both combined together lead me very hard to read something.
I told him
'Previously before I came Australia, I just got around 25 and 50 power for my both eyes. But still can see everything very clear.'
He even said
'ya, but now you went up to around 150 for both eyes. So you need to wear spec when reading small things if not you can't see at all.'

I asked him
'Why will like that?'
He said
'Short-sighted most probably cause by reading too small things in often, like over watching TV or computer screen and astigmatism caused by overtiring of your eyes, like you might be focued things for too long, but you didn't take a rest.'

The things he mentioned was so true describing me,
I don't watch TV but I focused the words on the computer screen for too long,
and sometimes when my eyes already very tired when reading for too long,
but I still tell myself
'Awhile more awhile more, almost read finish already. This one exam sure come out ones!'

Then I would tried my best, enlarged my eyes and continued read those words!

Thus,
I think people who study arts field have a similar lifestyle,
like a maniac playing during the day but like an owl burning midnight oil at the late midnight.
Lcl too!
She seems so free during the day,
doing nail arts, working part-time job in the morning,
but always sleep in the midnight.
This morning when I woke up,
I got her message on yesterday,
I looked at the time she sent me the message, it's my Australia time - 3:55 a.m,
means its her time 1:25 a.m.
I felt like I have the almost same life,
when rushing for assignment,
I also always sleep during that time,
sometimes even later about 2 o'clock something!
Just because too many things to read it up!
The lecturer just gave us a very short question to answer in the assignment,
but we need to read up the whole thing in order to answer that short question.
For an instance,
we have to read up 4 chapters in order to answer a question and each chapter have around 10 pages with very tiny and packed words.

*Something like this, this already consider the biggest typefont. LOL!

Read what I chat with my friend at the bottom,
do you think lcl will fly to UK?
My friend said RM18K per year only if she does one year UK transfer programme!
Its extremely cheap when compared to Australia,
we here RM 70K per year!
If she really,
I guess it will be very wonderful to visit her house when she is not around.
LOL!

So yea what's up with her?

    Clarissa Ngoh

Nothing actually, she is one of my friend. Then fabiola told me you studying in brickfield so I just recalled of my this friend and asked u...

Because she just enter on 2011 April and she said she will be graduate on next year September. I was wondered how come so fast then fabiola said u will graduate on next year also

Your course structure not until 4 years if start from A level till degree?

Oh, ok this is an LLB (Bachelors in Law) which means it only takes 3 years to complete because it's a degree. However, if you were to include A-levels together with LLB, it will approximately take 4 1/2 years because A-levels will consume 1 1/2 years. Because we are a UK programme so normally a law degree in UK only takes 3 years whereas in other countries like Australia or the US will be 4 years. So yea, haha basically it's like that lah. LLB is just a beginning to be a lawyer as you still have to take the Bar exam upon graduating. I hope this clears things up.

Ya. .. I understood everything right now, from what u said is clear. So from this UK programme u guys can skipped away that A level? And is the CLP are compulsory to be taken before graduating?

Now only I know why there are many people prefer to go uk study law instead of Australia. It basically has a shorter course n I heard people said only uk has the same law with Malaysia?

  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

You cannot skip your A-levels nor STPM because the pre-requisite requirements are either 2 Passes in A-levels/STPM. And say if you have graduated with an LLB, you can choose to either do your Bar exam in UK/Malaysia. In the UK it's called the BVC programme whereby in Malaysia it's called CLP. If you did your Bar exam in the UK, it can be used in all Commonwealth countries. However, CLP only can be used within Malaysia itself. You only need to take your Bar exam once and you can choose to do either BVC/CLP. Our Malaysian law was fundamentally built on the replica of the British law hence there are some similarities here and there with the English legal system.

Ya... I think so.... that's the solid reason why people do law in Uk. So how come my friend will graduate on next year September? She just went in Brickfield on 2011 April. Is there any special program for shorter path to graduate with a degree?

I have a friend here, she n her boyfriend did law in Australia. But couldn't find a job here after they graduate. I don't know why? But in guessed its due to skin colour hire opportunity.

  • Lee Siew Yen

Lol, did you know I join Brickfields on September 2011? Mine is even shorter than hers. Actually our academic calendar for every year is very short - approximately 7 months after deducting all the holidays. The reason why is most probably because we take 4 subjects per year and law is one subject that requires lots of reading. So, the lecturers will only teach you all the fundamental understandings of the law and the others you have to do it on your own. And that is why it doesn't take a long time to graduate as a law student. Brickfields does offer a short path to graduate with a Law degree - their A-levels is only 6 months and LLB itself only take 3 years. That is why you can see Brickfields students at the age of 19 graduating with a law degree. And in regards to your friends, did they take the Bar exam? Because if they don't, it's very difficult to secure a job in the legal industry. Here's a link for your friends if they are considering to come back to Malaysia to practice law - it contains all the recognised law degrees in Malaysia. Hope it helps. http://www.lpqb.org.my/index.php

Thank you so much for the links. Ya.... in MMU also goes the same thing. Law student has the most free time schedule, they don't have a lot of classes on their schedule but theyy have to study by their own for the rest. Lecturers just touch up and slightly cover the topics. I guess my friend hasn't take bar exam but she will take after completing her degree. Besides, brickfield student normally take 7 months for each year? How long does the holidays usually?

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

Because my friend always told me she got long holiday. ... like few months break. .... n I find it so often she has the holidays.

  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

Our holidays are REALLY LONG. Haha, like right now, we are having a 4 months break because our holiday is in accordance with UK's summer holidays.

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

And my friend is studying in KL brickfields and I think she wouldn't goes UK for Bar.

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

Ya.... then it will be the same in Australia. We normally have a long hols.... our summer break take 4 months so we only got 8 months to study in a year.... and even our short break can be 2 months if the exam period end earlier. Just like this June, after my semester exam, I got holiday from early of June till August. ... Two months break

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

So I guess Australia is roughly the same as Uk

  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

Yep, almost the same I guess.

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

But MMU did not. Mmu has a very short break around two weeks only. Even their long break will only take about up to one month the most.

So im sure u will plan to go UK study.

  • July 19
  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

Yea, because MMU is a semi-government type of university and that is why their law programme is 4 years instead of the normal 3 years. And the good thing about MMU is they are not required to take any Bar exam as it's included in the 4 years programme. And yes, I'm flying to UK soon; this coming September.

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

Yea.... but I think it's kinda same when comparing the Uk programme and MMU. Because MMU has extra one year but it has included CPL. So just depends where u wanna go.... wow.... you are flying to uK.... which place?

U going UK for one year bar exam?

How much is the total cost for both UK and brickfields? I mean from A level till CLP?

  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

Not really the same because our course structures are different. And the subjects that MMU students took are also different than the ones I took. If I'm not mistaken, MMU law programme is designed for the local legal system. Oh, I'm to University of Hull this year to complete my 3rd year and if it's possible, I'll be taking my Bar exam there. Otherwise, I'll just come back to do my CLP. In Brickfields, for LLB there are two types - the UK Transfer Programme (this is the one I took) and also University of London External Programme. UK Transfer Programme costs RM18,000 per year and it depends whether you wanna do 1

  • Lee Siew Yen
    Lee Siew Yen

(cont) 1+2 or 2+1. If it's UOL, it is definitely cheaper and the duration is the same, 3 years. A-levels I'm not really sure, you can definitely check it out on www.bac.edu.my but I can assure it's the cheapest already. I did my A-levels in HELP University College and it cost RM26,000 for 4 subjects and exam fees are excluded. So, if you total it up with the exam and also accommodation plus living expenses, it'll be around RM35,000.

  • Clarissa Ngoh
    Clarissa Ngoh

Wow Help is so expensive! !!! RM26000

University of London external is studying in Malaysia but getting London cert?
